Chitosan is already involved in the manufacture
of paper because chitosan molecules greatly resemble
those of cellulose, the main constituent of plant
walls. It replaces amine substitutes such as
guar gum and polysynthetic polysaccharides.
It also saves chemical additives and increases
output.
Lastly, the paper produced with chitosan has a
smoother surface and is more resistant to moisture. Among
other things, chitosan is of great value in the
production of toilet paper and for wrapping
paper and cardboard.
